Can you look at a job video in a classic print advertisement? Yes, that works… well, nearly. Let me tell you the story: The VBZ Zurich Public Transport approached us with a wish: They were looking for new tram conductors and wanted to enhance their newspaper advertisement with kooaba Paperboy: So if you now take a picture of the newspaper page you are connected to a great video showing the company and the job. Try it out right now: Open the thumbnail of the page and snap a picture of it with Paperboy (it also works directly from the computer screen).
After looking at the video with Paperboy, try out yet another interesting possibility: Besides using Facebook or Twitter, you can also send an SMS (text message) with a web-link to friends and people who might be interested in the job. They, too, receive the entire range of Paperboy connected to the VBZ-insertion. With this ad, the VBZ is the first business of Switzerland using the connection of print and internet job videos. It is their goal to make it easy for readers to get connected to their job video instantly, receive more information and make it possible to share these informations.
And what makes this whole story REALLY interesting is the fact, that the VBZ is actually working with a teaser: “Your future boss is applying to you!” This teaser is yet resolved when the reader takes a picture of the ad with Paperboy and finds the video.
And not only that: The “story” itself continues on the result page of Paperboy, for only there you can find the full job profile as well as contact details – which means there’s no need to stuff the whole text into the ad! By the way: The entire “Stellen-Anzeiger”, where the VBZ-ad is in, is powered by Paperboy. There is a very clear instruction in every issue showing you how our app works. We are excited to see more ads in future being connected to Paperboy!
Update:
VBZ did a very nice video about the campaign:
