Holding on to the old seems to be a natural characteristic of human beings but truth must be said, it’s only by innovation that our world will become a better place. Sometimes you just have to move on.
QR served its purpose of controlling auto-parts for Toyota. It moved its way up to become a connector to mobile and it has proven to ad value for that use-case. For that we are QR grateful, but innovation will replace what has become old, without any emotion, leaving its predecessor in the hands of a few collectors or hobbyists.
We do not mean harm and we honestly hope QR will get its well deserved respect in the future.
By this tribute, we show our gratitude.
QR, may you rest in peace

You have done well.

So … QR code has error correction built in … ( check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code#Error_correction ) … what kind of error correction does koaaba provide ? I’m curious … imho a qr code is much easier to recognize and process than a picture of a page
The QR code carries much more information than the encoded machine readable one. Actually, it tells the user that he will get more information by scanning it. It naturally tells the user to take a picture of the QR code. This information is common to almost everyone nowadays. Paperboy, on the other hand, is much more complicated and needs to print its icon anyway. The QR code is icon and information at the same time. Paperboy needs to educate users about their product. QR codes are more intuitive and common knowledge.
So even if I like the graphics of the ad and despite some success of Paperboy, I would suggest you to move on and burry another technology (or better find another application). You can not win against this one. It is too big.
You may be happy to hear that we support QR code scanning in the latest version of Shortcut: http://blog.kooaba.ch/2012/07/shortcut-3-0-brings-realtime-recognition-of-both-print-pages-and-qr-codes-and-deep-evernote-integration/
